You’ve worked all over the world, from Germany to the UK, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Thailand. What are some of the most interesting lessons each posting has taught you?
Each destination I’ve worked in has been a masterclass — not just in hospitality, but in human connection, cultural nuance, and the evolving meaning of luxury. From the precision of Germany to the soulful warmth of Thailand, every experience shaped how I lead, serve, and design moments that matter. These global postings didn’t just influence my approach — they transformed my philosophy of what modern hospitality can be.
Germany instilled discipline and detail; the UK revealed how heritage can blend with wit and warmth; and Saudi Arabia showed how creativity can thrive within cultural boundaries. Australia introduced me to the power of emotional ease, while Thailand reinforced the value of heart-led service. Each place offered its own rhythm, challenges, and revelations — all of which now inform how I lead teams and craft guest journeys at W Kuala Lumpur.
But at W, I’ve taken those lessons and turned up the volume. Here, I remix global insight with bold energy, fearless creativity, and a deep love for Malaysia’s diverse culture. As a General Manager, what is the first thing you notice when you enter a hotel, and which details do you pay particular attention to?
The very first thing I notice when I enter a hotel is the energy — the overall vibe. Is it warm? Is it vibrant? Does it feel alive? That initial impression tells me so much about how the team is functioning and how guests are experiencing the space.
I pay close attention to the lighting, scent, music, and how the space is activated. Are the welcome desks visually clear and inviting? Is the team present and engaged — not just stationed, but actually connecting with guests? I observe the body language of both the talent and the guests: are there smiles, eye contact, meaningful exchanges?
But above all, what matters most to me is the people. A beautiful space means nothing if the human connection is missing. I look for those unscripted moments — the bellman who remembers a returning guest’s name, the bartender who knows someone’s favorite drink without asking, or the Welcome Desk Talent who takes the time to engage, not just process.
It’s those small, seemingly simple gestures that create a sense of belonging — that turn a hotel stay into a memorable experience. Hospitality, at its core, is about people — and as a GM, it’s my role to ensure that every detail, every interaction, reinforces that sense of connection.

How do you maintain consistent service standards at the property?
At W, consistency doesn’t mean playing it safe — it means creating a rhythm that feels authentic, confident, and effortlessly bold. We empower our talent to own the moment, to show up fully, and to bring their personalities into every guest interaction. It’s not about following a script — it’s about being present, reading the room, and delivering the W experience in a way that’s real, not rehearsed.
