The Untitled Space Showcases Joanna Grochowska’s TRANSHUMANISM

The Untitled Space is presenting “TRANSHUMANISM”, a solo virtual exhibition by contemporary artist Joanna Grochowska, on view from 30 July until 31 October 2025 via Artsy and Kunstmatrix. Curated by Indira Cesarine, the show marks Grochowska’s first solo collaboration with the gallery and forms part of her ongoing project “Opening the Future”, first introduced in Munich in 2021.

Grochowska’s practice merges photography, digital manipulation and speculative thought to reimagine the human body in the age of rapid technological advancement. Her imagery fuses surreal symbolism with transhuman figuration, probing questions of gender, identity and embodiment in a world shaped by artificial intelligence, biotechnology and cybernetics. At the centre of “TRANSHUMANISM” lies the concept of morphological freedom — the right to alter one’s body and mind — which Grochowska transforms into striking visual provocations.

Her work builds on the legacy of Jeffrey Deitch’s Post Human exhibition (1992), while drawing inspiration from thinkers such as Klaus Schwab, Ray Kurzweil and Elon Musk. The resulting pieces present hybrid, augmented figures that challenge conventional beauty standards and blur the line between science fiction and lived reality.

Grochowska holds an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and is a member of Humanity+, the international transhumanist organisation. Her previous group shows with The Untitled Space include The INNOVATE Exhibit (2022) and UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance. “TRANSHUMANISM” marks her debut solo presentation with the gallery, and invites audiences to consider what it truly means to evolve in an era of intelligent machines and synthetic bodies.

“My work reimagines the body as an unnatural, evolving entity and questions how technology is reshaping paradigms of gender, identity and ethics,” says Grochowska. “This is the creation of a new art movement: transhumanist art”.
