The DJI Neo 2: What the Next Generation of Drones Looks Like

DJI has yet again empowered the world of technology and addressed one of the most common fears behind device flying anxiety. For anybody who has ever stated, “I’d love to try a drone, but I’m scared I’ll crash it”, then the Neo 2 is DJI’s answer.

With the release of Neo 2 Follow Me Selfie Camera Drone, the compatible palm sized device has made vlogging more pleasant as it is now more intuitive, better wind resistance and even for those who are worried about losing control.

Compared to the first released, DJI NEO — which was introduced in September 2024, DJI Neo 2 Selfie Drone takes it even further. It’s packed with the biggest inclusion of LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance and equipped with downward facing infrared sensors that makes flying significantly safer.

Protected by integrated propeller guards which offers us an additional peace of mind in case any accident happens, in other words, the Neo 2 will automatically slow down or stop before collision if you fly too close to a wall, tree, or pole. It makes vacation so much easier now that we can put our portable cameras to rest and indulge the rest of the day phone-free.

There have been concerns about battery life while flying a drone in midair and then racing to where its last located but the Neo 2’s compact build doesn’t compromise efficiency. Designed for beginners, The device itself is heavily Android/IOS powered and connects directly to the DJI Fly App, no remote required and highly dependable.

The rechargeable 1606 mAh battery has a much longer battery life, lasting up to only 19 minutes between charges, quicker than any device whatsoever. What stands out the most is how interactive it can feel with how we can use hand gestures to control it like a personal pet, give voice commands, and even switch modes instantly with a built-in display screen.

We do appreciate how DJI manages to take it further with technology and positioning Neo 2 a reliable “photographer” that follows you around even in tough environments like near buildings or over water and snow. The beginner-friendly drone could be the next best photography gear due to its capability for 4K/60fps, 4K/100fps slow motion and 2.7K vertical video – making it ideal for TikTok or Instagram reels.

When combined with the recently introduced dual-axis gimbal stabilisation, footage seems solid and cinematically right, making it highly competitive with its other competitive drone devices and even with our personal device.

That’s not all, one will not need the time to delete photos and videos for storage midair. Additionally, the built-in storage has increased from 16GB to 49GB, allowing you to record a large amount of 4K video without worrying about memory cards. With Wi-Fi rates up to 80MB/s, it’s also quicker now to transmit those clips.

All in all, the DJI Neo 2 is a quiet reminder that control and creativity can finally coexist.

The DJI Neo 2 is available on 6th November, 2025 at DJI Flagship Stores, authorised dealers, E-Store, and www.dji.com.
