Five New Watches That Caught Our Attention

As we transition into the festive season, so too have these selections of watches that are worth some wrist time come Christmas gatherings and celebrations. Of course, we’re not asking you to flaunt them openly, but hey, they make for great conversation starters should dinner topics run dry. Here are new selections from A. Lange & Söhne, Dior, Omega, Bell & Ross and Longines you should keep an eye on.

A. Lange & Söhne

Elegance meets nobility as A. Lange & Söhne refines the SAXONIA THIN with a platinum case and jet-black, glossy onyx dial. Based on the “Less is more” design principle and a design language distilled to its purest form, the two-hander is a mastery of proportions, as the watch hands’ length and shape, along with the intricate detailing of the baton appliques, are optimised. Thanks to the manufacture calibre L093.1 measuring a mere 2.9mm, the 200-piece limited edition creation comes in at a svelte and discreet 6.2mm height.

Dior

Monsieur Dior’s favourite shade unites expertise and sophistication in the Chiffre Rouge Chronographe Grey Ultramatte. Grey, widely regarded as the ultimate symbol of elegance, is met with the Chiffre Rouge’s architectural edginess, highlighted by its asymmetrical construction. The maison’s inimitable cannage is engraved on the watch dial and rubber straps as a nod to heritage. Flashes of red, which Monsieur Dior considers the “colour of life”, bring a flash of vivacity to the 150-piece limited edition watch.

Omega

Omega unveils its sequel, Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon, twelve years after the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon collection was released. Honouring Apollo 8 astronaut Jim Lovell’s words, “the Moon is essentially grey”, after his historic observation, Omega presents the timepiece in a fitting tonal grey execution. The grey ceramic case is paired with a laser-ablated skeletonised dial bearing striking similarities to the Moon’s surface. The watch is powered by Omega’s highly rated Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869.

Bell & Ross

Bell & Ross reinterprets aeronautical head-up display (HUD) systems for its extroverted take on the BR X-3 Night Vision. Instead of traditional materials, the BR X-3’s multi-material “sandwich” construction is outfitted with technical photoluminescent materials. Two LUM-CAMO main plates sandwich a luminescent DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium and carbon fibre inlay, featuring green rubber cylinders and a green dial outline, which glows a resplendent shade of green as night falls. The 250-piece limited-edition watch is powered by the COSC-certified BR-CAL.323 movement, developed by Kenissi.

Longines

Longines presented its cleanest take on the Spirit collection with the Longines Spirit Pilot subcollection. While most of the Longines Spirit Pilot Flyback’s styling and design remain untouched, the most significant redesign comes from the case size reduction, from 42mm to 39.5mm. Other subtle touches, such as the omission of the Longines Spirit’s five-star dial inscription and matte black dial, all contribute to a cleaner disposition for the flyback chronograph. Within the watch lies the handwinding calibre L792.4, COSC-certified for the highest standards of accuracy over the course of its 68-hour power reserve.
