Rado Anatom Summer 2025 Specials in Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit
Whenever brands tease us with new form watches, they are all too often one-shots. The Rado Anatom is no such thing, as these three new rectangular high-tech ceramic models (see specifications below for more) amply demonstrate. Of course, Rado is known for its form watches and has, in recent years, focused on increasing the automatic options. The Anatom, in particular, dates back to 1983, although it was a quartz ticker exclusively. The collection is an anomaly in that it is one of those rare 1980s vintages that has stuck around and been given a new lease of life by the mechanical watch revival.
Rado calls these new Anatom models summer specials and we could not resist them for our issue. These are in no particular order, but see if you can spot them based on name alone: Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit. They all have the appropriate dégradé dials and matching rubber straps. Needless to say, all three are time and date watches powered by the same automatic calibre R766, which is based on the ETA 2892, only much improved with the Nivachron balance spring and a better power reserve.
Rado makes it a point to talk up the ergonomic properties of the Anatom, which is appropriate considering how the watch is named. Normally, the bracelet in this model is a winning feature, but here, Rado has opted for rubber, which might be a first for the Anatom. Fit will need to be tested, but no deal-breakers conceptually.
The case remains the same combination of ceramic and steel, so there are no opportunities taken or missed, but since the main feature of this issue is about materials, it bears saying that mixed materials are a legitimate way to have a bit of fun with a watch. Speaking of which, these Summer specials – call it a capsule collection if you will, although Rado does not – are perfectly in line with current trends towards ever more colourful watches. That said, the Anatom retains a certain anachronistic vibe, thanks to its origins.
